Whiteface Mountain

Winter brings fun at Whiteface Mountain, even if you aren't a skier or rider. The gondola is open for scenic rides to the top of Little Whiteface. Don't forget to pack your camera; the views of Lake Placid and the mountains is incredible. For the skiers and riders of the group, don't pass up the opportunity to hit the slopes at Whiteface Mountain - voted the #1 ski resort in the Eastern U.S. by Ski Magazine readers. Whiteface boasts the highest vertical drop east of the Rockies. Eleven lifts service 90 trails with 288-acres of skiable terrain for all skill levels. Come explore the Olympic mountain and revel in the views of the surrounding High Peaks.

The other North Pole

For some fairy tale fun, visit Santa's Workshop! A trip to the Whiteface Region wouldn't be complete without a visit to the timeless fantasy village located in the North Pole, NY. Open June through December, Santa's Workshop has been a family tradition since 1949; it's the oldest theme park in the United States. Home to beloved fairy tale and storybook characters, busy elves, live reindeer, and Santa himself, the North Pole experience is one you won't soon forget.

Adirondack Wildlife Refuge

The Adirondack Wildlife Refuge sits on 50 acres of beautiful land alongside the Ausable River. Visit to see wolves, birds, foxes, and other creatures. The refuge rehabs animals and educates visitors on their ecology. There are also two-miles of educational trails on the property.

Fish Our Waterways

For angling enthusiasts, don't miss some of the best fly fishing in North America on the West Branch of the Ausable River
