About

Drive or ride up the historic Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway to reach the top of NY’s fifth-highest peak at 4,867 feet! At the top, be sure to check out the Castle Café and Gift Shop for great views, local bites, souvenirs, and more. To reach the summit, you’ll hike the fifth-of-a-mile-long Alpine Nature Trail or to enjoy truly spectacular 360-degree panoramic views of the Adirondacks, New England, and Canada. A visit to the Adirondacks is not complete without a trip to the top!

  • Please note: The elevator is currently under construction. The Alpine Nature Trail climb can be steep and slippery, so proper footwear is essential. The Nature Trail to the Summit is not wheelchair accessible.

  • This activity and many others are included with your purchase of an Olympic Sites Summer Passport!

  • Stay tuned at Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway for more information on the schedule and times of operation.
