Living here

Visit the Whiteface Region and you'll understand why we live here - there's no place quite like it. Surrounded by the Adirondack High Peaks, the area's beautiful mountainous terrain paired with its delightful people and refreshing simplicity, make it an ideal place to live. Our charming communities of Wilmington, Jay, Upper Jay, and Au Sable Forks retain the rugged authenticity that you'd expect from a mountain town.

An outdoor playground

If you're considering relocating to the area, deliberate no more. The Whiteface Region is home to communities just as dazzling as the wilderness surrounding it. Outdoorsmen and women have flocked here from all over for premier recreation, from skiing and snowboarding at Whiteface Mountain, to snowshoeing backcountry trails. In the warmer months fishing, boating, biking, and swimming dominate most of our free time! Of course, our communities run deeper than our love for the outdoors.

A community of artisans

You might not have guessed, but the region is riddled with artists and creatives from far and wide. The landscape makes for the perfect inspiration for artists, from authors to sculptors, to cheesemongers and soap connoisseurs. Musicians keep our towns humming, with live entertainment venues like JEMS, Amos & Julia Ward Theatre, and Upper Jay Arts Center offering the perfect backdrop to evenings out.

Just a step away

A short drive through the region will open you to the many surrounding communities of the Adirondacks. Lake Placid and the Lake Champlain Region are our neighbors, with the Saranac Lake region and Tupper Lake just a ways down the road. The Whiteface Region is about five hours drive from major northeast metropolitan areas, including New York City and Boston; less than four hours from Ottawa, Canada, and Syracuse, NY; and two to three hours from Albany, NY, Burlington, VT, and Montreal, Canada!
