Summer is coming to an end, and fall is right around the corner. The Adirondacks is a top choice for viewing the fall foliage, and the Whiteface Region is the place to be if you are looking for autumn fun.

Oktoberfest at Whiteface Mountain

Saturday, September 22: 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Sunday, September 23: 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Location: The base of Whiteface Mountain

Whiteface Oktoberfest, a weekend-long Bavarian-style celebration, is definitely one you won't want to miss. Festival-goers can indulge in authentic music, food, and beer, while browsing a number of unique craft vendors showcasing Adirondack-inspired pieces to take home.

Keep the kids busy with face painting, free carnival rides, and Oktoberfest arts and crafts. Then tire them out with the Whiteface airbag and the Whiteface Adventure Zone. High Peaks Juggling is returning this year to perform as The Little Circus with a whole new show including juggling, audience involvement, as well as aerial artistry and tight wire for an exciting new twist.

Haven’t had enough fun yet? Why not enter the Oktoberfest Lederhosen 5K or Oktoberfest 1K Fun Run. Both are sure to be a blast!

Annual Wilmington Festival of Colors

Saturday, September 8 - starting at 10 a.m.

Location: Festival Park, Wilmington

The Festival of Colors is another hometown celebration that the whole family will enjoy. This festival will be full of live entertainment, local arts, crafts, photography, furniture, fresh produce, and baked goods. Have an award-winning family pie recipe? Be sure to enter the annual pie baking contest. Or, showcase your mouthwatering chili recipe in the chili cook-off. Other activities to check out include live chainsaw carving demonstrations and horse rides with TESS stables.

Don’t worry…the kids can enjoy face painting, balloon sculptures, an inflatable bounce house, and pumpkin painting. Of course, they can let their creativity shine by entering the scarecrow building contest. If they’re lucky, they may even catch special appearances from Santa’s Workshop characters!
