Celebrate the colors of fall

For one of the best local home-grown events around, Wilmington hosts the 13th Annual Festival of the Colors in September. This event celebrates all things autumn in the heart of downtown Wilmington. The celebration includes local arts, photography, furniture makers, crafts, and homemade baked goods. It’s a true Adirondack community festival, a not-to-be-missed affair.

Live entertainment with Johnny and the Triumphs, along with free kids activities, a scarecrow building competition, and games will fill the day. A highlight will be guest appearances by Santa’s Workshop characters and Pipsqueak the Clown! The action goes on all day and includes the 2nd annual Chili on the Mountain chili cook-off. This wildly popular addition to the event last year will likely result in many more entries. Don't miss this. Chili tasting for the public begins at noon.

All of the Festival of the Colors action takes place at Festival Field on Springfield Road on Saturday, September 10th. Plan your Whiteface Region day around this great local event!

the Oom-Pah-Pah of all fall events

Oktoberfest, the grand-daddy of fall events at Whiteface Mountain, takes place on October 1 and 2, 2016. With roots dating back to the early 1800s in the Bavarian city of Munich, Germany, this annual event mixes traditional music and fare with modern family-fun in an awesome mountain setting. It's a celebration worth cheers-ing!

Featuring two full days of live entertainment with some of the best German bands in the Northeast performing, Oktoberfest has gained a very loyal following of return visitors each year. Join in this year and find out why so many wouldn't plan their vacations around this yearly event! In addition to the entertainment there is always a line-up of craft vendors featuring some of the best arts and crafts from around the Adirondacks and beyond.

There are pony rides for the kids, German beers on tap for the adults, authentic German food for everyone, and a host of activities to keep you moving all day. And if that's not enough, make sure you take the gondola ride to the top of Little Whiteface Mountain for amazing views of the surrounding region. On very clear days you can see as far as Montreal, Canada and Mount Washington in New Hampshire!  Join us for one day or both at this year's Whiteface Mountain Oktoberfest!
