There are so many great reasons to plan a trip to Whiteface this year. From food demos to ski demos, World Cup Freestyle to the grommet jam, live bands, first tracks, visits from the North Pole, and more - check out the event calendar and experience more than your normal ski vacation. Save on your next trip with Whiteface Region Ski and Stay Lodging Packages.

FIRST TRACKS –

Beating the weekend crowd has never been so easy. Free to the public, the first 14 people to sign up get to be the first up the lifts to get first tracks for one to two runs. First Tracks starts this Saturday, December 15th and runs weekends and holidays. Sign up at Whiteface Guest Services - stop by, call or email today. You may sign up in advance for your trip but please respect everyone else and show up if you make the list.

MOUNTAIN TOURS –

On select Saturdays Whiteface Mountain offers complimentary tours for a variety of terrain including Mountain Tours, Park Sessions, Mountain Moguls, and Whiteface Slides.

LIVE MUSIC –

Every weekend you can expect a band to play at the Whiteface Mountain Cloudspin Lounge. Beer and Liquor specials are scheduled as well. See calendar below. Stop in after a day of skiing and riding and say hi to the Cloudspin's friendly bar staff: Ashley, Erica and Colleen, I love these girls!

THE NORTH POLE COMES TO WHITEFACE -

With Santa's Workshop and the North Pole just down the road from Whiteface, Santa and his friends plan ski trips to visit the good little girls and boys at Whiteface. See them at Whiteface December 22, 23, 27, 28, and 29. Or visit Santa's Workshop at the North Pole, just a short drive from Whiteface. You can visit Santa and his reindeers and send a post card from the North Pole! This is the best place to send your vacation post cards or Christmas cards - the post office stamps the card from North Pole, NY!

FOOD DEMOS –

Food Demos at Whiteface Mountain
Food Demos at Whiteface Mountain

On a few select Saturday's the expert chefs at Whiteface Mountain's J.Lohr Base Camp Café are hosting food demonstrations to show you first hand how to prepare one of their signature dishes! The first demo is this Saturday, December 15th. Don't miss out on their final demo on March 16, where they host a spectacular wine and cheese tasting! The demos are free and the wine and cheese tasting is just $15.

WORLD CUP FREESTYLE –

World Cup Freestyle at Whiteface Mountain
World Cup Freestyle at Whiteface Mountain

One of my favorite events is the World Cup Freestyle, January 18-20. The best athletes from around the world compete in Moguls at Whiteface Mountain. Whiteface is known for being one of the steepest courses on tour. This is a unique opportunity to get a front row preview as these skiers gear up for the Sochi Olympics in 2014!

WEDNESDAY LOCAL RACE SERIES –

The Budweiser Race Series is a six-week community alpine race series, sponsored by Plattsburgh Distributing, and welcomes skiers and riders of all ages and abilities. During competition, participants race down a red and blue course on the Lower Valley trail, each competitor takes two runs, with the better of the two being used in the day's results. All teams entered are required to have a minimum of five racers, with at least two women per team, and a maximum of 20 people. Race day lift tickets are $35 for all competitors. Following the race, the fun is moved into the Cloudspin Lounge in the Base Lodge where racers can find the day's race awards, prizes, music, complimentary bar food and specials on Bud and Bud Light. For details or to register a team contact Whiteface or NYSEF - the first race is January 9th. Entry forms should be available soon.

FREERIDE –

There are several local events for slopestyle, rail jam and skier/boardercross along with a local USASA series. Whiteface hosted events cost $10. USASA sanctioned events require a USASA membership, although for first timers you can try the series with a free one-day trial. USASA events cost $25 and discounted lift tickets are available.

New for the little rippers this winter Whiteface Mountain is opening a Riglet Park at Kids Kampus, this is one of only 6 parks in the East!

RUMOR HAS IT –

Freeriders and freestylers are in for a treat (although not announced officially yet) the rumor is Whiteface Mountain is Possible Airbag at Whiteface?purchasing its own air bag! When/if that happens jumps on the airbag will be available 5 days a week. Stay tuned for details!

PSIA –

Whiteface hosts several Professional Ski Instructors of America training courses throughout the season!
