About

Unpacking is an original performance, and community storytelling project. A devised memory play, driven by our relationship to inanimate objects. Drawing from our imaginations, research, and personal narrative the ensemble uses objects (both sentimental and mundane) as a conduit to explore themes of memory, permanence, and connection. What makes an object trash vs treasure? What could your possessions tell us about you? Join us in the Lounge as we unbox objects one by one, and explore the stories, secrets, and feelings they hold.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

This piece was created by an intergenerational ensemble of local folks, some performing and/or creating original work for the very first time. Over a nine-week process, led by UJAC Artistic Director Gabrielle Schutz, they've learned and utilized new techniques in writing and staging original theatrical vignettes. We're so excited to share this workshop performance as the result of this exciting collaborative process.
