ESWG: Mogul and Cross Competitions at Whiteface Mountain
Get ready for high-octane action at Whiteface Mountain as it hosts the Freestyle Moguls and Ski & Snowboard Cross competitions for the 2026 Empire State Winter Games (ESWG).
While the main event's opening ceremony is held later in February, these specific alpine and freeride events kick off the event early from January 30 to February 1.
Freestyle Moguls
Dates: January 31 – February 1
The Action: Competitors will tackle a bump-filled course on Whiteface’s legendary terrain. Athletes are judged on three criteria: turns (technical carving through the bumps), air (two jumps featuring flips or spins), and speed.
Ski & Snowboard Cross
Date: February 1
The Action: Sanctioned by the USASA Adirondack Series, these events feature four racers dropping into the course simultaneously. It is a sprint to the finish through a gauntlet of banked turns (berms), rollers, and jumps. Physicality and tactical positioning are key as athletes navigate the technical "cross" track.
