Learn to Draw from Nature at NewVida Preserve
Personal enrichment and development, nurtured through visual experiences presented by
award-winning visual artist and author James Lancel McElhinney © 2025
“Anyone that can learn to write can learn to draw.” proclaimed an early American textbook.
Children are taught how to read by first learning how to draw letters. Drawing is not a
technique, but a visual language that teaches us what we behold. It slows us down, and focuses
our attention. Drawing settles the mind, and relieves distraction. By enhancing our encounters
with nature, drawing can nurture environmental awareness, and lead to self-discovery.
Drawing with provided basic tools indoors or outdoors, weather-permitting. Use the process of drawing to learn
how to see movement, space, and light, in a non-competitive, non-judgmental atmosphere.
Classes are held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursdays in June:
