Remember. Honor. Celebrate.
Carry The Load returns to Lake Placid each Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. The true meaning of Memorial Day connects America to the sacrifices of our military, law enforcement, firefighters, rescue personnel, medical and first responders. Join us as we walk, paddle, or bike around Mirror Lake, to 'Carry the Load' in their honor.
DATE: Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend
TIME: 11:00 a.m. Walk, paddle, or bike around Mirror Lake.
LOCATION: Mid's Park on Main Street (and around the lake)
LIVE MUSIC: Brad Hester and Mike Lashomb of Annie in the Water will perform a free concert at 1:00 p.m.
Gather at Mid's Park on Main Street, Lake Placid at 11:00 a.m. The event will start with introductions of the program and a step off prayer, before walking around Mirror Lake at your own pace, remembering those who gave all and helping those still dealing with the trauma of their greatest loss.
People will be encouraged to stop for lunch with their families, shop and soak up the mountain air along the route. All we ask is that you remember and never forget. For those choosing to walk a first or second loop, this will be guided by our flag bearers at noon.
Annie in the Water
The group and visitors to Lake Placid will stop for a free concert at 1pm with Annie in the Water. Brad Hester and Mike Lashomb promise an experience and a culture of compassion and joy. The band's Americana Indie Rock found its roots in acoustic guitars without limits. They understand the program and you will too.
