The Lake Placid Film Festival is proud to celebrate the community of film industry amateurs, professionals, and just plain movie buffs, with award-winning shorts screenings, cutting edge feature length films, educational seminars, mixers, receptions, tributes, directors, producers; and you: all wrapped in the mystical, magical village of Lake Placid, NY.

20th anniversary festival

Join filmmakers, movie fans, and special guests for the 20th anniversary Lake Placid Film Festival. Over four days, enjoy panel discussions, seminars on filmmaking, trivia, a range of films, and conversations with special guests.

On the exciting schedule:

  • Tribute gala to celebrate Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner Raoul Peck. Peck is a writer, director, and creator of the HBO docuseries "Exterminate All the Brutes" and the film "I Am Not Your Negro."
  • Short films from 2020's "Your Shorts are Showing" competition will be screened all weekend, culminating in an award presentation
  • Screenings of independent films from around the globe, including Israel, Germany, India, the United States, and more
  • Q&A sessions after selected films
  • Documentary film screening to raise funds for the Barkeater Trails Alliance
  • Bring the kids for a delightful vintage experience with a showing of the animated classic "The Land Before Time"
  • Film trivia!
  • Learn about the ins and outs of filmmaking, including fundraising and writing, from industry experts
  • Embrace your inner gumshoe with screenings of noir classics, introduced by a Turner Classic Movies contributor Jeremy Arnold
