If you're visiting during the winter season, don't pass up the opportunity to ski and snowboard Whiteface Mountain - voted the #1 ski resort in the Eastern U.S. by Ski Magazine readers - it boasts the highest vertical drop east of the Rockies. Eleven lifts service 86 trails with hundreds of acres of skiable terrain for all skill levels. Come explore the Olympic mountain and revel in the views of the surrounding High Peaks.

Visit Ausable Chasm

For an unusual outdoor adventure, head to Ausable Chasm - now open year-round, you can experience this natural wonder any time of year. Summer makes for an amazing tour of  waterfalls and unique rock formations. You can choose between a one- or two-hour guided adventure  or a casual 30-minute walk.
