Attractions in The Adirondacks

Whiteface Mountain

In the winter, don't pass up the opportunity to ski and snowboard Whiteface Mountain - voted the #1 ski resort in the Eastern U.S. by Ski Magazine readers - it boasts the highest vertical drop east of the Rockies. Eleven lifts service 86 trails with hundreds of acres of skiable terrain for all skill levels. Come explore the Olympic mountain and revel in the views of the surrounding High Peaks.

Summer brings fun at Whiteface Mountain including parties on the deck and all of the mountain biking you can imagine. The gondola is also open for a fun 10 inute ride to the top of Little Whiteface. Enjoy a drive or hike up Whiteface Mountain Memorial Highway* and visit the iconic castle. Bring lunch and a camera and take in incredible views paired with a cool mountain vibe.

Whitewater Rafting

Just a short drive from the Whiteface Region is the Hudson River Gorge, where adventure-seekers can embark on guided whitewater rafting trips with Adirondack Rafting Company.

Visit Ausable Chasm

For an unusual outdoor adventure, head to Ausable Chasm - now open year-round, you can experience this natural wonder any time of year. Summer makes for an amazing tour of  waterfalls and unique rock formations. You can choose between a one- or two-hour guided adventure  or a casual 30-minute walk.

Fish Our Waterways

For angling enthusiasts, don't miss some of the best fly fishing in North America on the West Branch of the Ausable River. Or if you're looking for some history and culture, spend an afternoon at the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake. You can discover the region's history along with local folklore and ancient relics.

The other North Pole

For some fairy tale fun, don't miss Santa's Workshop - a trip to the Whiteface Region wouldn't be complete without a visit to the timeless fantasy village located in North Pole, NY. Open June through December, Santa's Workshop has been a family tradition since 1949 - it's the oldest theme park in the United States. Home to beloved fairy tale and storybook characters, busy elves, live reindeer, and Santa himself, the North Pole experience is one you won't soon forget.

Putt around

We're not far from Ausable Valley Golf Course in Ausable Forks, a family-owned, par 34 course spanning 2,612 yards from start to finish. Tee times are not required; walk-ons are welcome. Afterward, you can enjoy the homestyle meals found at the clubhouse, and take pleasure in the challenging course design.

Families can take smaller children for a round of Adirondack mini golf right by Whiteface Mountain. The Putt N Play miniature golf course is located at the North Pole campground in Wilmington. This 18-hole mini golf course is fun for both children and adults. Putt N Play has a retro feel, and offers players the chance to win ice cream or a free game with a hole in one.
