Welcome to Autumn in the whiteface region!
As the sun arcs a bit more to the south and a few leaves begin to show that small tint of color on the hills, summer events wind down and we turn our attention to those celebrations of the fall season that make our region such a fun place to play.
Farmers' markets throughout the region are now offering some of the best produce and agri-products of the season, so don't miss a visit to one of these popular markets.
On September 10th, Wilmington's 15th annual Festival of the Colors event celebrates all things Autumn! Last year a chili cook-off was added to the festivities of the Festival of the Colors. It was a huge hit, so this year’s event should produce even more chili contestants with some awesome chili sampling, in addition to all the other activities surrounding the Festival.
October 1st and 2nd are the dates of this year’s Whiteface Mountain Oktoberfest celebration. This long-standing event is the grand daddy of events in the Whiteface Region and features some of the very best Bavarian entertainment in the Northeast. You’ll also find crafters, food and drink, kids activities, and much more. Check out the event schedule for more information.
Be sure not to miss the 2016 Essex County Cheese Tour on Sunday, October 9th. The three regional creameries will participate with free product samples, food trucks, entertainment and tours of the creameries in this second year of the event. It was a really fun event last year and we have some amazing cheeses produced right here in the region, so make sure you get in on the tour this year!
There are fall events all over the region, making Wilmington a great place to base yourself to "Get Close" to the action. See you in the fall and don't forget to check out the full schedule of events below.
