The American Alpine Club, DC Section, collaboration with the PATC-Mountaineering Section and support from Arc'teryx Washington DC are excited to offer you a fun filled weekend of ice climbing. Are you ready to expand your climbing through the colder months, try ice climbing! This event will provide climbers (with outdoor climbing experience) the chance to develop their skills over two days of top roping on easy and moderate ice climbs under the supervision of experienced ice climbers. On the third and final day providing a multi pitch ice climbing opportunity.
Participants will be required to organize their own travel, gear and lodging.

FRI, Feb 24 (arrival date)
Evening (Time TBD) Check in and gear shakedown in the game room of ADK Trail Inn. Bring your gear and we'll make sure you're all set.
SAT, Feb25
0700-0800: Breakfast at ADK Trail Inn.
0900-1700: New ice climber clinic with top rope ice climbing at Cascade Pass.
SUN, Feb26
0700-0800: Breakfast at ADK Trail Inn.
0900-1500’ish: Moderate top rope ice/mix climbing at a different ice crag at Chapel Pond Canyon.
MON, Feb27
0700-0800: Breakfast at ADK Trail Inn.
0900-1500’ish: Multi pitch ice climb.
PREREQs:
American Alpine Club/PATC-MS Member. Please provide proof on membership.
Past outdoor climbing experience.
COVID-19 Protocols:
Must be fully vaccinated with proof. May ware mask indoors.
How to get there:
It’s about an 8/9 hour drive from DC area. Seek directions to Keene, New York there are flights to Albany as well.
Carpooling is recommended. Will create spreadsheet to coordinate carpools and lodging in near future.

Please no cotton.
Multiple gloves are helpful. Set for climbing, set for belaying and a spare set.

Food:
Bring plenty of water and snacks to include lunch for the day while ice climbing. A thermos full of coffee or hot chocolate will be very beneficial.
