Join us at the The Casella Drive-In Movie Festival benefiting the Shipman Youth Center!
This year, the I Love BBQ festival will have a different feel, but will be full of great movies! From Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 6th there will be a double feature. Movies begin nightly at 8 PM; gates open at 6:30. The movie festival marks the 15th consecutive year of assistance for the Shipman Youth Center. In its original form as a barbecue and music fest, the event became the center’s top fundraiser to provide needed financial assistance for its programs.
Movie schedule as follows:
- Sept. 4: Minions, followed by The Blues Brothers
- Sept. 5: School of Rock, Instant Family
- Sept. 6: Shrek, Jurassic Park
COVID-19 restrictions will be in place for the three nights, including marked parking locations at the show grounds, masks are required of all attendees, movie-goers must remain in their vehicles at all times unless using the restrooms.
Free will donation upon entry is $10 per person or $25 for a full vehicle.
The Casella Drive-In Movie Festival is also offering a raffle with 11 cash prizes. A limited number of tickets will be sold, with a top prize of $3,000. Just log on to www.shipmanyouthcenter.org and click on the DONATE button.
The weekend movie festival will take place no matter the weather.
ABOUT THE SHIPMAN YOUTH CENTER
The beneficiary of the Casella Drive-In Movie Festival is The Shipman Youth Center (SYC) (www.shipmanyouthcenter.org), a not-for-profit community organization providing support to children and youth ages 10-18. The center was inspired by Thomas Shipman, a designated Lake Placid youth police officer, who died in 1999 and built the center with community donations of money, materials and labor. For the last 21 years, SYC has provided services to over 6,000 different children. Programs include homework time and assistance, community services, recreational services, weekly family-style dinners, dances, and guest speakers. SYC provides a supervised, safe and exciting environment where local children can grow and develop as individuals. Shipman Youth Center is 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization.
