Skiing and Riding
Be the first to make tracks in the Whiteface Region this winter
However you take your turns, whatever your skill level, the Whiteface Region awaits

Book your Whiteface Region vacation today and experience some of the best skiing and riding in the eastern United States. Whiteface Mountain boasts the highest vertical drop east of the Rockies with 86 trails, 11 high-speed lifts and terrain for any skill level. The two-time Olympic mountain features nearly 300 acres of skiable alpine land with two terrain parks, a halfpipe and beginner's park for first-timers. With glades, slides and tree-skiing, Whiteface has trails for all ages and abilities. Refresh your technique with a private lesson, or hop on the Cloudsplitter Gondola to Little Whiteface Mountain for some black-diamond runs. Whatever your path, don't pass up the opportunity to say you've conquered the highest ski area in the East.

The Whiteface Region also offers backcountry skiing opportunities. Whether you are telemark skiing or cross-country skiing, the Whiteface Region is the ideal place to blaze the trails. Cross country skiing is a total-body workout that gets your heart and lungs pumping. If you're a runner, cyclist, triathlete or just want to increase your fitness, cross country skiing in the Whiteface Region is a great way to cross-train and stay active this winter. Not to mention it's fun, inexpensive and fairly easy to learn.

For those looking for a more challenging route, head up the Whiteface Veterans Memorial Highway trail for some spectacular views atop the fifth-highest High Peak in the Adirondacks. Take in the Adirondack wildlife as you ski by frozen-over streams and snow-topped trees. Birders will especially enjoy navigating through the pristine woodlands, where hawks, eagles, owls and smaller birds make their winter home. You may even see Crossbills high in the trees along the trails.

Whether you prefer a groomed trail or fresh powder, there are several trails in the Whiteface Region to enjoy. Many of these trails are located just off of Route 86 between Whiteface Mountain and Wilmington. To find out more about cross-country skiing, be sure to get a trail map or guidebook when you arrive.
