About

High Peaks Cyclery was established in 1983 as one of the first original multi-sport stores in Lake Placid and the Adirondack Park. Owners Karen and Brian Delaney came to Lake Placid during the Winter Olympics in 1980, fell in love with the area and decided to set roots. They started High Peaks Cyclery to share their love for the area with the mission of "helping the community enjoy life and the outdoors through professional service and top notch products."

In summer they shine with expertise in all models of Giant and Scott bicycles, triathlon, running (road and trail), hiking and backpacking, canoe, kayak, and SUP equipment, rock climbing gear, apparel and much more. Need information on where to go and what to do? Our staff are know the trails from personal and guiding experience and can share a wealth of knowledge of where to hike, bike, ski, etc.

In winter we excel in Nordic, telemark and A/T skis, equipment and outerwear, snowshoes, ice climbing gear, winter outerwear and so much more. We’ll share trail conditions and information on the best places to ski or snowshoe, just stop in our shop and chat with our staff!

Also within our retail building is a rock climbing gym, fitness/yoga studio and our famous "Recyclery" Consignment and Sale Room, which has highly discounted sale items from High Peaks Cyclery as well as lightly used consignment gear and clothing from customers like you.

High Peaks Cyclery also has a guide service—High Peaks Mountain Guides— to outfit you and your group and take you out exploring. We offer introduction classes, ACA paddling instruction courses, explorations into the High Peaks Region, rock or ice climbing 101, 102 or 103 courses, adventure cycling expeditions, and much more! At HPMG we are able to cater to your expectations and needs, and can even do the food planning for your trip. Contact us at 518-523-3764 for more details.

Our service department is second to none with bike and ski repairs and tuning. Want to ship your bike or skis to and from home? We are an excellent launch zone for your outdoor transition.

High Peaks Cyclery also has lodging—High Peaks Basecamp Lodging—right next door so you can stay right in town and enjoy the life of a local. At High Peaks we have three houses total—the Basecamp Lodge, High Peaks House, and Guide House. Each house sleeps 10-12 people comfortably, with plenty of space to relax after a day well spent outside! We offer opportunities for larger groups to book two or three of the houses at a time, so we can accommodate up to 34 people at once!

We also have a variety of bikes, canoes, kayaks and SUP's, camp gear, ski equipment, avalanche safety gear, snow shoes, micro-spikes, bear canisters and much more in our first class rental fleet.

Be sure to stop in and let HPC's friendly and knowledgeable staff get you on your way to an Adirondack journey of a lifetime in comfort, style and fun!
